On March 26, 2013, Nancy Morales and Oscar Omar Figueredo stood up for their rights. Now they’re being prosecuted for it. Will you speak out for them?
Call the Cameron County DA and tell them to stop criminalizing the exercise of constitutional rights in the border.
On March 26, 2013, Nancy Morales and Oscar Omar Figueredo were arrested at the airport in Brownsville, Texas after they refused to answer questions regarding their citizenship made by Border Patrol agents. Nancy and Omar were attempting to board a domestic flight to return to their home in Ithaca, NY when they were questioned by the agents. They both refused to answer the agents’ questions in defense of their civil rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. When it was clear that the Border Patrol could not compel them to answer or detain them, the Brownsville police stepped in and arrested both Nancy and Omar. Now the state has filed multiple, unjust charges against them, including “obstructing a passageway,” “resisting arrest,” and “interference with public duties.” Nancy and Omar maintain their innocence and ask for the your support in their fight against these charges. Will you speak out for them?
